MAMA, there are new trends in front of you!
Spring—the season of rebirth, deep cleaning, and…of course, new (and reused) fashion trends! And friends, it’s time for us to break up with fast fashion, greedy companies, and minion behavior. Without delving too deep into the politics of fashion—and even more so, hyper-consumerism—it’s crucial that, as fashion consumers, we are not exclusively sold faddish clothes. Beyond the cheap fabric, the even cheaper labor, and the generic styles, we need to start caring about where our clothes come from. Buying ethically made and sourced clothing is an investment. Maybe you’re like me and still shop at H&M (and that’s okay!), but we need to broaden our horizons when it comes to small business fashion brands, both within and outside of American markets. This article is simply my opinion on a few fashion brands—Acne Studios, Paloma Wool, and Miu Miu based on their SS25 collections.

Casual Corsets
Both Acne Studios and Miu Miu have incorporated ‘everyday’ or ‘every-closet’ items to accentuate the waist—an eternal focal point of the body. While baggy jeans and oversized shirts still dominate street fashion, there’s a clear resurgence of form-fitting styles (maybe even skinny jeans…?). But as we all know, Gen Z (and those trying to keep up) will never sacrifice individuality. So next time you wear a corset, try layering it with a long sleeve or lace blouse to add some dimension and texture.

Layers & Patterns
This may seem obvious, but people have been rocking multi-patterned outfits forever. I don’t know about you, but my mom never let me mix plaid and stripes growing up—but this spring, little me is finally free! Let’s be real: plaid isn’t going anywhere, and neither are layers. Layering has always been a staple in fashion, and this year, let’s channel our inner Bridget Mendler circa Good Luck Charlie Season One—or maybe take inspiration from the old mandil sitting in your abuelita’s closet (trust me, it’s cute!). Even better, next time you accessorize, try double or triple-layering your belts, or experiment with layering tank tops, tees, and long sleeves in different colors.

Colorful Tights & Sheer Fabric
Spring is all about breezy, colorful, light pieces, and tights are a fun way to add a pop of these eccentric Spring highlights to any outfit. No matter the occasion, tights also add a level of sophistication while highlighting one of the sexiest features—your legs. Wearing stockings under trousers or jeans, paired with flat shoes, is an easy way to personalize your outfit and add a touch of refinement.

Bare Face & Chunky Accessories
Hydration and bare faces are in. Gone are the days of clothes wearing you—you are now wearing your clothes and it’s time to own it. Embrace your acne scars, dark spots, uneven skin tone, wrinkles, and all! Pair that natural look with festive, chunky purple earrings or dangly water-droplet accessories—these simple yet bold statement pieces are all you need this year. Think *simple maximalism* to elevate any outfit, whether dressed up or down.

This small business functions as a second-hand shop specializing in all things vintage! Based in London, their mission is to curate the best handpicked items so that people can shop sustainably instead of buying new.
